This aim will be achieved by combining preventive, regulatory and technical remediation measures. The initial phase of the project will develop a PFAS source tracking and remediation tool for use by municipalities, regions and water management companies. This tool will allow governments and water providers to initiate strategic PFAS tracking, identify critical areas of contamination and receive new PFAS remediation recommendations. Municipalities, regions and municipal water management companies will then work together to develop PFAS monitoring and remediation programmes. These joint measures will allow them to implement the most appropriate administrative and technical measures and effectively prevent or stop the input of PFAS into the Baltic Sea.
The project will also test technical remediation measures in all project partner countries using innovative methods in stormwater systems in Sweden and Estonia, Finland and a wastewater treatment plant in Latvia. In addition, BalticPFASResolve will also promote cooperation between municipalities and fire brigades, including airport rescue services. Such targeted cooperation will ensure cost-effective and timely remediation of PFAS.
Transboundary cooperation is critical for the reduction of PFAS in the Baltic Sea. It will allow for the joint development of methods that can be used in all countries of the Baltic Sea Region, sharing experiences, learning from each other and contributing to the development of PFAS policy at EU level. <\/p>\n\n

The following activities will be implemented during the project:
1. PFAS source tracking and remediation programs.
1.1. Development of PFAS source tracking and reduction guidelines for municipalities.
1.2.
