The advantages of the technology relate to the use of several innovative solutions \u2014 such as a specific enzyme mixture and surfactants in the production process \u2014 as well as the further processing of hydrolysis residues into biogas. To achieve the objective, available biomass resources will be evaluated, a specific enzyme mixture will be developed under laboratory conditions, technological research and optimisation of biogas production will be carried out, two technological prototypes will be developed, and system-demonstration activities will be conducted.<\/p>\n<p>The specific objective of the project is, on the basis of experimental research, to create an effective and environmentally friendly zero-waste technology for the efficient processing of lignocellulose-containing biomass to produce biofuel and biogas, thereby increasing the amount of energy produced, reducing costs and promoting energy independence. To achieve this, the following activities will be carried out:<\/p>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Development of a specific enzyme product (mixture) that will simultaneously\/sequentially ensure the hydrolysis of the cellulose and hemicellulose in the biomass into fermentable sugars and the processing of the remaining mass into biogas (Activity No. 1).<\/li><li>Evaluation of various biomass resources to determine the optimal hydrolysis conditions and assess the quality of the developed enzyme product (Activity No. 2).<\/li><li>Improvement of the anaerobic fermentation process by supplementing the raw material (lignocellulose) with surfactants of biological origin and the unprocessed enzymatic-hydrolysis residues after the separation of fermentable sugars (Activities No. 3.1 and 3.2).<\/li><li>Determination of the boundary conditions of anaerobic fermentation (Activities No. 3.3 and 3.4).<\/li><li>Development of new technologies based on the obtained research data (Activity 4: system for collecting fermentable sugars; Activity 5: system for zero-waste processing of digestate).<\/li><li>Demonstration and publicity activities of the unified system and presentation of scientific results to increase commercialisation potential (Activities No. 6.1 and 6.2).<\/li><\/ol>","protected":false},"featured_media":1411,"template":"","project-category":[54],"class_list":["post-1725","projekts","type-projekts","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","project-category-national-projects-en"],"meta_box":{"taxonomy_advanced_korwzz473n":[{"term_id":54,"name":"National projects","slug":"national-projects-en","term_group":0,"term_taxonomy_id":54,"taxonomy":"project-category","description":"","parent":0,"count":12,"filter":"raw","term_order":"0"}],"radit_projekta_template":"1","saite_uz_projektu":"https:\/\/www.rtu.lv\/lv\/universitate\/projekti\/atvert?project_number=4126","gads_no_lidz":"2019-2022","apraksts":"<!-- wp:paragraph --><p>Within the project, through industrial research and experimental development, a non-economic project in Engineering and Technology (according to OECD \u2014 2.7 and 2.8) will be carried out to develop an effective, environmentally friendly zero-waste technology for processing lignocellulose-containing biomass to produce biofuel and biogas.
