Heat, gas and water technology
The professional bachelor’s study program “Heat, gas and water technology” includes a wide range of fields that provide students with knowledge in engineering systems of ventilation, air conditioning, heating, cold supply, gas supply, water supply, and sewerage. Students take courses that provide both basic knowledge in various physical and chemical processes (e.g. heat and moisture transfer, flow mechanics and hydraulics, pollution removal, water corrosivity), and basic knowledge in microbiology and its application in engineering systems and equipment operation design (e.g. safe potable water preparation and distribution, wastewater treatment). This knowledge is strengthened in various practical laboratory works.
During their studies, students develop skills in designing engineering systems. The engineering system design is taught by experts in the field, who are also sharing their work experience. In addition to students, there is an opportunity to participate in visits to various companies (e.g. SIA “Rīgas ūdens” surface drinking water treatment station “Daugava”, underground water treatment station “Baltezers”, wastewater treatment station “Daugavgrīva”, AS “Rīgas siltums”, etc.), as well as to active or commissioned construction sites, where they can familiarize themselves with engineering solutions in real objects.
Potential career options include working in any of the areas covered by the program. Graduates work in the water management sector, heat supply, gas supply, engineering system design, and preparation of energy audits buildings.
